Water Resources Planning 2013

Security for water has become a global issue on which almost the entire world is working on it. Whatever we are doing whatever innovations or discoveries we are doing actually we are using the natural resources rather by extensive use of natural resources, but we are not actually realising the fact that whatever resources we are using that are limited one day it will come to an end. So, we should have a limited usage of all the natural resources including air, land and water. Many countries are facing challenges in controlling water pollution. The more the water gets polluted; scarcity for fresh water will increase day by day. So, we should be very much aware of water security.

Countries have come up with water resource planning or water resource management, with only one motto that is to preserve our natural asset for our future. Water resource planning can be defined as the planning or management with some specific goal set with the achievement of balancing ecosystem and also caring about the human demand and necessity. Water resources planning has come up with the plans of reserving water, to make water pollutant free and to provide water at all the required place at the time of natural disaster like drought. According to latest survey, sixty per cent of the fresh water source which includes rivers, lakes, fresh water spring and pond are highly contaminated with the pollutants. Through this water resource planning, the area where there is a scarcity of water supply, using the unused land to make reservoir which enhances the storage capacity of water and supply the water scarce places to provide on regular basis. Water resource planning has another motto to maintain the ecological balance. Due to over use of natural resource the ecological system getting hampered a lot. As we all know that for survive we need water, without the presence of these three things (water, air and land) actually there will no existence of human lives similarly water that is that much necessary for marine life also because due this pollution marine life getting hampered and they are in a stake. Many aquatic animals are getting endangered and water resource planning also had taken notice of preserving the aquatic animals. Water based activities will greatly supports the drought prone areas. For a healthy ecosystem hydrological reserve matters a lot and with proper awareness in some countries it is increasing also. Water reserving planning also enhances the growth in production of the hydropower. This water resource planning and management helps in meeting a number of challenges like supply of water in the places where there is an uncertainty of water, producing hydroelectric power which again helps in saving fossil fuels and other fuel substance, creation of dams, barrages and reservoirs which lead to extension of the water storage capacity. This planning also includes make water germ free, this is being done by the storage of the polluted or waste water and then through processing the germs or the pollutant are getting separated from the water and as a result of which that pollutant water is also being used properly.

Thus, water resource planning helps to maintain both the quality and quantity of water.
